Volunteer placement process

To begin your volunteer experience, take these steps:

  1. Complete an online application.



  2. Once your application is received, you will get an email with upcoming orientation dates. Please respond to the email indicating which orientation date you would like to attend.

  3. Once you have selected an orientation date, you will be notified within three business days if you need to complete any additional forms. Some applicants may need to complete a health clearance form. All junior applicants will need to submit a letter of recommendation.

  4. Attend an orientation session.

  5. Complete required health screening. This can be completed at Abbott Northwestern (no charge) or by your physician.

  6. Complete an onboarding shift. (Information will be provided at Orientation.)

  7. Begin volunteering at Abbott Northwestern!
