Cranberries may ward off urinary tract infections

Pregnancy puts extra stress on your bladder. To avoid the unpleasant symptoms of a urinary tract infection (fever, burning during urination and increased frequency of urination), try regularly drinking cranberry juice.

Cranberries contain chemicals that prevent disease-causing bacteria from infecting the urinary tract. You can also get the chemical in capsule form. If you prefer capsules, check with your doctor to make sure they're safe for pregnant women.

If you experience urinary tract infection symptoms, quickly call your health care provider before the infection gets worse.
