Calico bean dish

Cut the sodium in this dish by using no salt added or low-sodium canned beans. Or, you can buy dry beans and prepare them without adding salt to the water.

Ingredients

1 - 28 ounce can pork and beans
1 - 15 ounce can kidney beans, drained
1 - 15 ounce can baby lima beans, drained
1 - 12 ounce package veggie crumbles (such as Morning Star Farms® Meal Starters® Grillers® Recipe Crumbles™)
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 - 5 1/2 ounce cans vegetable juice
1 medium onion, chopped
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in large stockpot and heat throughout on stovetop.
  2. Or place in slow cooker on high for three hours.
  3. Serve warm.

Makes 9 servings.
