You and your baby

A beginning to your recovery

In some hospitals you may be in the same room for all of your hospital stay. In others, you may be moved to a different room after your baby's birth. Either way, you can keep your baby with you in your room as long as there are no health problems. Your partner, family member or friend is welcome to be with you 24 hours a day.

Based on your situation, you and your health care provider will decide when you are ready to go home. It may be as brief as 24 hours or as long as a few days.

Think of your hospital stay as the beginning of your recovery and a time to learn about your baby and being a parent. You'll be spending the first hours or days with your baby supported by professionals who can answer your questions. Ask for what you need.
