Medical Weight Loss Program

    The Medical Weight Loss Program of Allina Health provides individual and group formats of a medically supervised, non-surgical weight loss option for patients with the chronic disease of obesity and morbid obesity. Weight loss achieved through this program will better a patient’s overall health and improve or eliminate additional weight related medical conditions.

    The goals of treatment

    The overall goal of The Medical Weight Loss Program is to assist patients in losing weight to improve their overall health and decrease the severity of weight related medical conditions. The program strives to provide patients with the appropriate tools to successfully maintain a healthy weight in the long-term and improve quality of life.

    Patient criteria

    In order to ensure success, patients considering The Medical Weight Loss Program must meet the following criteria.

    • Patient is an adult, 18 years or older.
    • Patient has not been pregnant in the past 6 months and is not breastfeeding.
    • Patient is not planning on becoming pregnant in the next 6 months.
    • Patient interested in the individual program has a BMI greater than or equal to 30 and weighs less than or equal to 600 pounds.
    • Patients interested in the group program has a BMI greater than or equal to 25 and weighs less than or equal to 600 pounds.
